The New Center
The New Center is a heavily urbanised area, it is the biggest district in Hellsinki with millions of people living and working in the district. There are countless skyscrapers and the district contains multiple overlapping levels connected by walkways and bridges. Many of the megacorporations have placed their headquarters in the area around the new central railway station.
The government of Helsinki is based in the New Center and many people in the government treat the district as the proper Helsinki and have given up on the other districts. Money is power in this district, the government is largely controlled by the megacorporations and its purpose is mostly to justify the actions of the corporations.
The government has given out the control of different parts of the district to various corporations. Corporations have built competing road networks and other public service without many restrictions or governmental control. This has led to a very complicated multi-layered city where different structures and layers are connected with walkways and bridges. Many of the areas are accessible only to people who work or are customers of certain companies. Because of the complicated layout of the district only the people who have lived here for their whole lives are able to navigate the district without a computer assistance or hired driver.
Services, research, and high quality manufacturing are the primary industries of the sector. There are multiple supermalls where you can find everything you’ve ever wanted. All the public spaces of the district are filled with advertisements and all aspects of the life commercialised.
