The Eastern Ruins

The Eastern districts of Helsinki were mostly destroyed in the Länsisalmi explosion and the area is now just called the eastern ruins. Many of the buildings in this area are completely destroyed or partially collapsed. Many are also badly burned and most of the area is contaminated by various poisonous and radioactive substances. The whole area has been declared a tomb site and entry is strictly forbidden. Any traffic in an out of the zone is believed to increase the rate that the contamination is spreading. The entry restrictions of the area are enforced by the Finnish state military.
The area is desolate and abandoned, no one can say that they live here, at least for long. There are still some desperate people making scavenging trips to the area. There are also some other illegal activities like smuggling taking place in here. There are also some rumours of some corporate black sites functioning under the disguise of the ruins.
