The district's population has also dwindled, as many residents have fled in search of safer areas. Those who remain live in fear of the next outbreak of violence.
Despite the ongoing conflict, Malmi still has some thriving industries, including electronics manufacturing and software development. These industries require a skilled workforce, and many workers in Malmi have undergone cyberware enhancements to improve their performance on the job. However, that has also made them a target for gang recruitment, and some workers have been coerced or threatened into joining the violent struggle.
