Guild Master Veli (a.k.a. Arto's Protégée)

Veli is the Guild Master of the Artificers. This tabaxi master crafter is specialised in the tinkerings of secured storage devices, often designed into a specific residence. He works with magical and non-magical means of securing homes and hiding away strongboxes. Veli prefers to get involved in the designing stage of new manses, knowing that a storage location that is built in by design is going to be a lot better than one that is retrofitted after the mansion has been built.
From a young age Veli has been tinkering around with little machinations, from trying to get a small mouse that could roam around on its own for his siblings to chase to a more precise sand timer for his father. Veli’s father, an Artificer himself, opened up his workshop for his tinkering son, and so Veli grew up around springs, twine, and hammers. When Veli was ready to start his apprenticeship, he left his home one day and returned at the end having secured himself the best artificer in Ashak as his master. This man, Arto, taught his young protégée over the next years of his life, and even after Veli became a full craftsman himself, he stayed in the shop of his master.
When Arto passed away, Veli took over his shop. Two months before the passing of Arto, Veli had completed his Master Work, and Arto had proudly presented him with his Master Token. On his death bed, Arto had confided in Veli that his dying wish had been to see Veli complete his Masterwork. As a full master himself, Veli continued the business that Arto had started. Over the next few years, Veli continued to grow Arto’s Artificing, which is now a famous store in Ashak. In Arto’s honour, Veli took on some promising apprentices, teaching them in the same way as he had been taught. Having established himself as a Master Artificer, Veli did everything he could do further his craft. This ethic was picked up by the Artificers Council, and when a seat opened up the next time, Veli was voted into it 10 to 0.
Even after he became a council member, Veli continues to spend most of his time in his workshop, training new students and living up to Arto’s honour. Veli’s apprentices and fellow craftsmen would describe the tabaxi as a calm and curious person. His love for small tinkering goes above anything else. He is a private person, and very little is known about his home life. When asked about his wife, Veli will often comment that she is very lovely, and then politely redirect the topic. In his communications with others, he is often the one doing most of the listening, speaking only when necessary. He prefers to ask the questions that open up the stories, and with this mantra, he teaches his youngsters.
