Welcome to Helia - a world dictated by the cycles of life... and death.
Like the ebbing and flowing of tides upon the shore, Helia's history is a declaration of cause and effect. For, whatever success and development this world makes, there is sure to be a counteracting force bringing it back in check, and thus is the cyclical fate suffered by the Helian peoples.
It wasn't always the way - the Helians were, for a time, one of the most technologically advanced nations in the known universe. Yet as always happens to those whose reach is beyond their grasp - they are left humbled in the ashes of their own hubris.
What though could bring such a powerful world to its knees you might ask? Well, the mighty leveler in this story is a beast - a city sized monstrosity believed to be sent to punish the world for its avarice and cleanse the world of entropy. The Irreverent holds no bias in its destruction and if not for the efforts of mighty Spirit Callers of the past, keeping it temporarily at bay, there would be little to resist its path of destruction.
The world in its current state is cautious - fearful that the use of that same technology which birthed The Irreverent will also draw its attention. Thus the world grows stale with anticipation. Yet, in this time of peace, the beginning of a new cycle approaches...
