Physical Appearance

Vorinds are sleek and muscular, with elongated bodies that allow them to slip through undergrowth and rocky terrain with ease. They grow up to 4 feet in length, with short, tawny fur that thickens in colder climates. Their sharp, piercing eyes provide excellent vision even in low light, while their powerful jaws and sharp teeth make quick work of small animals.

Habitat

Vorinds thrive in forests, hills, and scrublands, especially in regions with dense vegetation or rocky outcrops where they can conceal themselves while hunting. They are found in both temperate and colder regions, adapting well to various climates. In warmer environments, they tend to stay near shaded areas to avoid the heat of the day, while in cooler climates, they are more active in the open. The Vorind is most commonly found in the wild, unsettled parts of Forbin, Remon, and Teros Major, where they dominate the small predator niche.

Behaviour

Vorinds are solitary hunters, relying on stealth and speed to ambush their prey. Their long periods of observation make them adept at stalking, often waiting for the perfect moment to strike. While they primarily feed on small mammals and birds, they are opportunistic hunters and will take on larger prey when necessary. Vorinds are territorial and will defend their hunting grounds fiercely, especially during the mating season. They are also known for their cunning, often using natural features like rocks or trees to their advantage when closing in on prey.

Geographic Distribution

Vorinds are found in various regions across Helerin, though they are most abundant in the forests and hills of Forbin, Remon, and Teros Major. They have adapted well to the diverse environments of these realms, from the dense woods of Remon to the rocky foothills of Forbin and the open plains of Teros. Their ability to survive in both warm and cold climates gives them a wide geographic range, though they tend to avoid more arid and extreme environments like the deserts of Mar Miskun and the Wastes of Teros Minor.

Interaction with People

Vorinds are generally elusive, preferring to avoid human contact, though they are occasionally hunted for their pelts, which are prized for their warmth and durability. They pose little threat to people, as they typically shy away from larger prey, but they can become a nuisance to farmers by preying on livestock, particularly chickens and smaller animals. In some cultures, the Vorind is seen as a symbol of cunning and resourcefulness, admired for its sharp instincts and tenacity.
