Soth-Larr

The Soth-Larr is a malevolent being that haunts the ruins of Horr Fathin, a creature of darkness and whispers. Those few who have glimpsed it describe the Soth-Larr as a vaguely humanoid figure, but constantly shifting and changing, as though its form is made of shadows and smoke. Its presence brings with it a deep chill, and the winds that blow through the ruins seem to carry faint, unintelligible whispers whenever it stirs.   Though not overtly aggressive, the Soth-Larr is highly territorial and does not suffer intrusions lightly. Those who wander too close to Horr Fathin find themselves suddenly disoriented, as if the landscape itself is changing around them. Paths that were clear before become obscured, and familiar landmarks vanish. It is said that the Soth-Larr can distort perception and reality, making it nearly impossible for those caught within its domain to escape without aid.   The being appears to have an affinity for darkness and seems to draw strength from the night. During the day, it is rarely seen, and the ruins, though still unsettling, are far less treacherous. But as the sun dips below the horizon, the Soth-Larr awakens, its power growing with every passing moment. Many believe that the creature is bound to Horr Fathin, perhaps the result of a long-forgotten spell or curse cast in the tower’s dying days. Some say it was once a sorcerer who delved too deeply into the secrets of shadow magic, while others claim it is a spirit of vengeance, drawn to the site of so much bloodshed and conflict.
