Nechlin

The Nechlin is a large, elegant saltwater fish, known for its slow, graceful movements and distinctive trailing fins. Found in the open waters of the Sea of Fair Winds and the Sea of Zarroth, the Nechlin is a solitary creature, prized for its tender, flavorful meat. Its scarcity and difficulty to catch make it a valuable delicacy in the markets of Helerin.

Physical Appearance

The Nechlin can grow up to four feet in length, with a sleek, elongated body covered in pearly white scales. Its most striking feature is the pair of elaborate trailing fins, which flow behind it as it glides through the water. These fins, along with its gentle, fluid movements, give the Nechlin an air of grace that sets it apart from most other large fish in Helerin’s oceans.

Habitat

Nechlins inhabit the deep, open waters of the Sea of Fair Winds and the Sea of Zarroth. They prefer cooler, deeper regions of the ocean, where they can glide slowly and feed in solitude. These fish are rarely seen near the coast, instead favoring the vast expanses of the open sea, where they can live undisturbed by human activity.

Behaviour

Nechlins are solitary, slow-moving fish that spend most of their time drifting through the deep ocean. They feed on smaller fish and plankton, using their slow movements and large size to avoid predators. Nechlins are known for their peaceful demeanor, rarely interacting with other sea creatures except during mating season, when they briefly gather in deeper waters to spawn before returning to their solitary lives.

Geographic Distribution

The Nechlin is found in the open waters of the Sea of Fair Winds and the Sea of Zarroth, where they are most commonly spotted by deep-sea fishing vessels. Their elusive nature and preference for deep, remote regions of the ocean make them difficult to catch, though they are occasionally found in shallower waters during certain times of the year, particularly in late summer.

Interaction with People

Due to their size and the high quality of their meat, Nechlins are a prized catch for fishermen, though catching one requires patience and skill. Their meat is considered a delicacy, fetching high prices in coastal markets. The Nechlin’s succulent flesh is often served at special feasts or in upscale dining establishments, where it is celebrated for its rich flavor and tender texture.
