Lombora

Lombora is a tall, grassy plant known for its powerful earthy flavor, which is a key element in the cuisine of Elinann.   It grows in arid locations and is actively cultivated for its culinary uses, particularly in the southern regions of Helerin. The leaves of Lombora are prized for their distinctive taste, adding depth to savory dishes.

Form and Appearance

Lombora grows in tall, upright clumps, with each grass-like stalk reaching up to five feet in height. The leaves are long and narrow, with a pale green color and a slight sheen. When the plant is fully grown, it forms dense, grassy patches that can withstand the harsh, dry conditions of its native environment. The leaves are tough and slightly fibrous, but when dried and crushed, they release a strong, earthy aroma.

Habitat

Lombora thrives in arid, dry regions, where it can withstand both the heat and the scarcity of water. It is commonly found in the southern and eastern plains of Helerin, where the climate is hot and dry for much of the year. The plant is also cultivated in these areas, where it is grown in large fields for its culinary value.

Geographic Distribution

Lombora is primarily found in the arid regions of southern Teros Major and on the plains of the island of Teros Minor. It is particularly associated with the town of Elinann, where it has become a signature flavor in local cuisine. The plant can also be found in other dry regions across Helerin, though it is not as widely cultivated outside of Teros.

Uses

The leaves of Lombora are used as a culinary herb, adding a rich, earthy flavor to a variety of savory dishes. In Elinann, the leaves are dried and crushed into a fine powder, which is used to season meats, stews, and vegetable dishes.   The flavor of Lombora is strong and distinctive, making it a favorite in regional cooking. Beyond its culinary uses, the plant is also occasionally used in incense, where its deep, earthy scent is believed to promote grounding and focus.
