Lobster

Lobsters are large, hardy crustaceans found along the rocky coastal waters of Helerin. Known for their tough exoskeleton and powerful claws, they are a prized catch for fishers, with their rich, flavorful meat considered a delicacy in many coastal communities. Lobsters play a crucial role in the marine ecosystem and are highly valued in trade and cuisine.

Physical Appearance

Lobsters typically grow between one and two feet in length, with a hard, segmented exoskeleton that ranges in color from dark green to reddish-brown. Their most notable feature is their large, powerful front claws, one designed for crushing and the other for cutting. These claws are used for both defense and capturing prey. Lobsters have long antennae and several pairs of legs, which they use to scuttle along the ocean floor.

Habitat

Lobsters inhabit rocky coastal waters, where they seek shelter in crevices and burrows along the seabed. They are most commonly found in the colder waters around Forbin, the Seynan Islands, and Mar Miskun. Lobsters prefer environments with plenty of rocks and underwater caves, where they can hide from predators and search for food, including small fish, mollusks, and plant matter.

Behaviour

Lobsters are primarily nocturnal, spending the day hidden in crevices and venturing out at night to hunt for food. They are solitary creatures, fiercely territorial, and will defend their burrows from other lobsters or predators. Lobsters use their large claws to catch and crush prey and for defense against threats. During mating season in late summer, female Lobsters carry fertilized eggs under their tails until they hatch, releasing larvae into the open water.

Geographic Distribution

Lobsters are found along the rocky coastlines of Forbin, the Seynan Islands, and Mar Miskun, particularly in colder waters with abundant shelter. They thrive in areas with strong tides and rocky seabeds, where they can burrow and forage safely. These regions are key lobster fishing grounds, with coastal communities relying heavily on the Lobster catch.

Interaction with People

Lobsters are highly prized for their rich, flavorful meat, making them a valuable commodity in coastal markets. They are typically caught using lobster pots—cage-like traps that are left on the seabed and later hauled in by fishers. The Lobster’s meat is considered a delicacy and is often boiled or grilled and served with butter or herbs. In some regions, Lobster is reserved for special occasions and festivals. Coastal communities also trade in Lobster shells, which are used in decorative crafts and jewelry.
