Jashatt

The Jashatt is a small, fast-moving saltwater fish known for its skittish behavior and distinctive blue and silver scales. Found in the Sea of Fair Winds, the Jashatt is highly sought after for its flavorful meat, which is often smoked or dried for preservation, making it a staple for long journeys and coastal diets.

Physical Appearance

The Jashatt grows up to a foot in length, with a slender, streamlined body covered in iridescent blue and silver scales. These scales reflect sunlight as the fish darts through the water, creating a shimmering effect that makes them both beautiful and elusive. Their small fins allow for rapid, erratic movements, helping them evade predators and disturbances.

Habitat

Jashatt thrive in the open waters of the Sea of Fair Winds, where they form large shoals that move quickly through the water. They are most comfortable in relatively calm, clear seas, where their agility allows them to navigate easily. These fish often stay near the surface, making them a common sight for fishermen, though their speed and skittishness make them difficult to catch.

Behaviour

The Jashatt are known for their quick, darting movements and their tendency to scatter at the slightest sign of danger. They swim in tightly-knit shoals, which offers them some protection from predators, though their skittish nature means they are constantly on the move. Despite their nervous behavior, Jashatt are abundant in the Sea of Fair Winds, especially during warmer months when they are most active.

Geographic Distribution

Jashatt are primarily found in the Sea of Fair Winds, though they can also be found in smaller numbers near the coasts of Remon and Forbin during their migration periods. Their range is limited to warmer, open waters, where they find the best conditions for feeding and reproduction.

Interaction with People

Despite their elusive nature, Jashatt are widely fished due to their flavorful meat, which is considered a delicacy when smoked or dried. Coastal communities prize them for their long shelf life, making them an important source of protein during long voyages or winter months. Specialized fishing techniques have been developed to capture Jashatt without disturbing their shoals too much, allowing for larger hauls.
