Bara and Barda

Bara and Barda are noble titles used in the League of Mar Miskun and the Mar Mabon Townships. They are relics from the time of the Thalissian Empire.
The lowest rank of nobility, the title of Bara (male) or Barda (female) is awarded by city rulers, and is therefore the only title that may be newly awarded.
The title is granted for the lifetime of an individual and therefore cannot be inherited. Recipients are typically military leaders or heroes, senior administrative functionaries, and successful merchants.
No title is conferred on the recipient's spouse or children.
A Bara or Barda is addressed as "Master" or "Mistress". No special form of address exists for the spouse or children of a Bara or Barda.
