Repudiation of the Call

When the War of Collision broke out, it is said that Hyrrhorn put out a call to the dverge. At that time, there were no fortborn, mudborn, or iceborn. There were only dverge, made in Hyrrhorn's image. Those who answered the call were changed, made into the first fortborn. These first fortborn were called the Remade.   This ritual was not without side effects. Any fortborn, remade or otherwise, was compelled by a force within themselves to capture mudborn they encountered and force them to accept the call, converting them to remade fortborn.   The Repudiation is the reversal of this grim process. For those fortborn who come to understand and regret the choice they made, or for those who were never given the choice and wish to be free of the burden of their compulsion, the Repudiation of the Call is an intensive and painful process whereby a fortborn dverge can once again return to the natural state of a dverge; a mudborn.   The process is incredibly painful, and not without chance of failure. Should the process fail, depending on the severity, the dverge may perish from the attempt, though deaths are rare. The ritual is rarely completed without the necessary knowledge and preparation, for those who know how to perform it know not to skimp on the preparations.

Components and tools

Access to a homefire, the yearly flame maintained by the mudborn with their Sparking of the Flame, is ideal, but an ember will ironically serve the same purpose.

Participants

Like with many mudborn rituals, an Elder Mother must be present to directed and preside over the ritual. Several are better, if possible, but one is sufficient for the ritual to occur.
