Crushtop

"Vresta!"   ~ traditional iceborn toast
Crushtop is a uniquely iceborn drink, a delicacy of the chillier regions of the realms. Special mugs of true ice - a material fashioned in the harbor of Arísert - freeze a film of ice over the top of the drink, leading to a tradition of toasting every drink to crack it open.

History

Crushtop began ages past in the history of the iceborn, when they were trapped under the cruel tyranny of the ðyrs. They were forced to live and work in freezing conditions, and their drinks would often get so cold a film would freeze over top. These days, if not for the intentional use of true ice tankards, the ice doesn't form. The Frozen Keg in Arísert maintains the tradition with their special Crushtop drinks, a selection of three different beverages that all pair well with the unique experience.

Components and tools

Crucially, the Crushtop requires a true ice tankard for the full experience to take effect. Arísert is the only place for countless leagues that you could find readily available true ice.   The different flavors of Crushtops are ice berry - the non alcoholic option - hot grog, and root mead. Ice berry is derived from a planet that commonly grows just a bit inland which has a very strong flavor akin to mint. It is mixed vigorously with a bit of milk in the true ice tankard and becomes a thick and delightful consistency.    The hot grog is a strange experience, one that many consider an acquired taste. The spice of the grog hits only once the chill of the mug has left your mouth, leading to a cycle of drinking and pain for first time drinkers. The root mead however is simply a delightful smooth mead derived from a root the owner of the Frozen Keg imports from the Stórrwoad via his own special source.

A fascinating history and interesting details for this drink! (And as a tea-totaller, I happen to love the fact that you included a non-alcoholic version for it.) I also like the description of the flavours.

Hot Grog sounds like my cup of spicy tea! Lovely work.
