Writing System

The alphabet has 30 consonants (“B”, “D”, “Dh”, “Ch”, “F”, “G”, “J”, “H”, “K”, “L”, “P”, “M”, “N”, “W”, “V”, “Qu”, “R”, “T”, “Th”, “ P’ “, “Z”, “S”, “Sh”, “Ç/C’ “, “Ş/S’ “, “Ğ/Gh”, “Ŋ”, “Zh”, “Ng” and “Y”) and six vowels; “A”, “E”, “U”, “I”, “O” and “Ə”.

The language has a written form as well as its sign-language form.   To explain a message, the following hand-signs are made:

The above hand-signs spell "Life is Good." The written form of this text is given below:

The written letters are organized into blocks, which are stacked on top of each other to combine phonemes abnd express words. The written version of Handpseak is a but more popular among Ghosties, as most of them (being deformed) hardly have any fingers to express signs with.

Phonology

There is no phonology, as the language is never spoken.

Morphology

When communicating with the language, one must make the specific hand-gestures that represent each letter. There is a past-tense, present-tense and future-tense in the language, represented by the wiggling of the thumb on the left hand (past) ,thumb on the right hand (future) and both thumbs (present).   There are also "suggestions": these are hand-signs that function as suggestions in situations. They are: La (The), Le (That), Li (This), Lu (His) and Lo (Her). Combining Lu and Lo can either be "Their", "They" or "It".   A closed fist with the knuckles of the flexed fingers bent 90° so that the fingers touch the palm and the thumb lies over the fingers represents La.   An open fist where the thumb and fingers are flexed so as to touch at their tips is Le.   A flat hand, where all fingers are straight and in contact represents Li.   A hand where the thumb and fingers are curved, but not enough to touch is Lu   A hand where the four fingers are flat (straight and in contact), but bent at 90° from the plane of the palm is Lo.
