Aeon
Thought to be among the oldest species, aeons are complex manifestations of concentrated magic. Little is understood about them, even as they've taken refuge aboard the NWS-Atlas. As their homeworld, Eden, was devastated by warfare, they wander the stars in search of a new beginning for their people.
Beings that represent concepts are not unknown to N.W.S.; Ferrows and Edaxii are demons born of wrath and gluttony respectively. However, aeons are not tied to any single idea, and it is unknown what sustains their existence. Every aeon traces its lineage back to the Cosmic Spine and the Fount of Genesis, where they were born and raised alongside the kobolds.
Conversely, Edenian aeons saw their aptitude for magic and psionics as frightening, for no other species on their planet, save the kobolds, could understand or compare to it. Aeons understood these powers to be destructive when misused, so much of their lives were spent honing these abilities, typically with a kobold assistant. Aeons and kobolds lived alongside one another as companions before the Twilight War, but many of the customs surrounding these two species have been lost to time.
Embers of this old way of life can be seen in most aeon colonies, which are often nearby civilizations of other species. Aeons are quick to adopt the cultures of surrounding nations and quicker to integrate into said nations. Aeons only migrate as they once did if their neighbors do, and it is theorized that their nomadic lifestyles were a natural result of their close relations with kobolds.
Anatomy
Aeons appear as orbs (called "cores") measuring approximately 10.5” (26.7 cm) in circumference and weighing 25 lb (11.3 kg). Their weight and size are static, yet their appearance varies wildly. The sphere contains a vortex of gas that typically resembles a starry sky. Though aeons have no discernible mouth, their speech echoes like how one would sound in a large, empty room. The gas within reacts to the aeon's temperament, becoming a chaotic storm when the aeon experiences stress and mist-like when peaceful. The shell—the body—of an aeon core is typically constructed out of wood, though aeons in other biomes may use stone. Regardless, aeons tend to create their exoskeletons with some form of plant life. Because of this, some aeons may have entire ecosystems living upon them. A core serves as an aeon's brain and heart. If the body is destroyed, the aeon remains intact; if the core is destroyed, the aeon is destroyed as well. However, aeon cores are incredibly resilient and were originally believed to be impossible to shatter. Any methods used to destroy aeon cores are unknown.Society
Edenian aeons, as a whole, were heavily religious, and they valued their planet’s natural order and beauty. Before proto-humans inhabited Eden, aeons lived nomadic lives and migrated as the seasons changed. Aeons viewed their world as a living, breathing machine, and they believed that they were just one kind of gear within that machine. Because of this, they shunned technological advancement and devoted themselves to magic; they believed it was less damaging to their planet. It is thought that Luminism and Voidism are manifestations of how Edenian aeons viewed the concept of a natural order.Conversely, Edenian aeons saw their aptitude for magic and psionics as frightening, for no other species on their planet, save the kobolds, could understand or compare to it. The Triune of Mind
Aeons have a cosmic link to their “brother-kin,” the kobolds, through the Eternal Triune, which represents the three parts to a single sapient creature. Aeons represent the mind, logic, and reason. They are incredibly intelligent but often have one-track minds; they begin their lives obsessing over a single concept. When left to their own devices, aeons will spend their years critically studying this obsession before it eventually becomes a part of their identity. Proper socialization, combined with an aeon's natural curiosity, is usually enough to mitigate this before it becomes a problem. Aeons believe strongly in “personal journeys”; because their kind is capable of clairvoyance, aeons spend much of their lives asking what their purpose is from those with that power. Because of this, aeons fully devote themselves to any task they perform in the hopes that they'll find their purpose. Their nomadic lifestyles and help from their brother-kin resulted in the aeons' fully-realized personas, but modern aeons are often, unfortunately, stunted.

The Fount of Genesis
"The Fount of Genesis is the ancestor of all aeons and kobolds. It is also where we spend most of our childhood."Before their home planet, Eden, was destroyed, aeons were born from the Fount of Genesis, a fountain with life-giving waters. The tree that grew in the Fount grew aeons from its branches like fruit. These juvenile aeons would began pea-sized before swelling and dropping into the waters below, where a kobold would choose them. Aeons are bonded to a single kobold for life.
Ascension
"They say the dragons were unparalleled in all aspects, that they were the arms of 'Zenith' and its will."It is rumored that dragons once roamed Eden, though it is unknown if any exist at all. All that is known about Edenian dragons comes purely from word-of-mouth. It is said that dragons come to be through the unison of an aeon and a kobold. The energy of the two mingle and eventually become one, transforming them both into a single, powerful creature with the powers of both. This merging is known as “ascension,” and it is considered the final step in an aeon's personal journey. However, all knowledge of how to merge an aeon and a kobold is unknown, lost before Luminism was founded.
