Ulukana

Half-Vishkanya

These lithe and beautiful humanoids have smooth, sensitive skin and lightly forked tongues. They are most easily noticeable by their deep opalescent eyes. Built sturdier than their vishkanya parent but more flexible and naturally alluring than their human parentage, they lack toxic bodily fluids, but their blood instead contains powerful natural antivenom.   Primarily found in the Ulus culture which is full of Vishkanya, Ulukana have had a hard road finding acceptance outside of their people, but their natural beauty and versatile nature has allowed them to be trusted and welcomed members of many societies, even if that trust is earned behind a veil or is bought by usefulness.   Despite lacking any body hair at all aside from their head and brows, their have incredibly receptive skin dotted with microscopic follicles sensitive enough to sense vibrations in the air.   While they are respected and valued by Vishkanya, especially in Ulus lands, there is an understanding that at their curent stage they are "incomplete". Their tactile and thermal sensitivities making them particularly vulnerable in their homelands.
Ulukana are humanoids with the human and vishkanya subtypes.   Ability Scores: Ulukana get a +2 to Charisma and a +2 to one Ability Score of their choice.   Low-Light Vision: Ulukana can see twice as far as a human in dim light.   Speed: Ulukana have a base speed of 30 feet.   Language: Ulukana with high intelligence can choose to speak Viskha (archaic). Archaic languages cannot normally increase their proficiency level outside of character creation.   Poison Resistance: Ulukana gain a resistance bonus against poison equal to their HD.   Scaleless Sensitivity: Ulukana do not have the small hard scales of their parents, but their skin is very sensitive to vibrations or even slight changes in temperature. They are vulnerable to extreme temperatures (taking 50% more damage from environmental extremes), but take half the normal penalty to Perception from being asleep or otherwise unaware. As a standard action, they can gain Blindsense of 5’ for one round.   Naturally Flexible, Naturally Sharp: Ulukana always treat Perception and Escape Artist as class skills.

Alternate Racial Traits:

Keen Eyes: Ulukana gain a +2 racial bonus on sight-based perception checks. This replaces “Naturally Flexible, Naturally Sharp”.   Scoundrel: Ulukana always treat Disguise and Stealth as class skills. Choose one of these. If you already have it as a class skill, it gains a +2 racial bonus. This replaces “Naturally Flexible, Naturally Sharp”.   Next step: Ulukana with this racial trait are believed to be the closest to what will one day be the Vishkanya. Their scales (which normally helps insulate the fat in their dermal layer) soften but don’t completely disappear, instead allowing them to gain the benefits of “Scaleless Sensitivity” without the drawbacks. Their Ability Scores are also altered, gaining a simple +2 to their choice of one ability score. This alters both “Ability Scores” and “Scaleless Sensitivity”.   Forked Silver: These Ulukana have evolved beautiful voices and immaculately-formed physical features related to speaking and singing. They gain the Voice of the Sibyl feat and a +2 racial bonus to Diplomacy or Perform (oratory) or (sing). This replaces the Bonus Feat racial trait.   Toxic: These ulukana retain their poisonous bodily fluids, but their resistance is more limited. Their poison resistance only applies to other vish venom. A number of times per day equal to his Constitution modifier (minimum 1/day), an ulukana can envenom a weapon that he wields with his toxic saliva or blood (using blood requires the ulukana to be injured when he uses this ability). Applying venom in this way is a swift action. Vishkanya Venom: Injury; save Fort DC 10 + 1/2 the ulukana’s Hit Dice + the ulukana’s Constitution modifier; frequency 1/round for 6 rounds; effect 1d2 Dex; cure 1 save. This alters the Poison Resistance racial trait.
