Elpon & Dagon
Elpon and Dagon are the twin stars we orbit. Both are G-type main sequence stars originating together from the protoplanetary disk. They orbit every five days at about 11,000,000 Km apart. Each is about the mass of ancient Earth's sun. They are predicted to last about another 6,000 million years. The light from these stars is a pale grey-yellow and from our vantage, they pass across each other every 2.5 days. Most educated folk know just about this much, although commoners and outcasts have other ideas about the twin suns.
Localized Phenomena
Sunspots, flares and magnetic disturbances sometimes shower our planet, causing beautiful auroras across all latitudes. These suns have captured a small number of extrasolar comets which make appearances in our sky from time to time.
Natural Resources
The stars could, in theory, support a small H3 scooping industry if infrastructure could be developed.
History
Upon initial survey, the stars were selected for their age, habitable planet, spectral range, elemental composition, and orbital stability. Of course, they were quite younger when analyzed, since the distance was great and the light had a long time to travel. Scientists had to predict far into their future to determine them as suitable for colonization.
