alTabaq (Al Tabac)

The plate is a large open plain that is very flat and featureless. Temperatures soar here and only well equipped caravans and travelers make any use of it. There is no vegetation, and only passing carrion eaters are found sometimes. The suns shine relentlessly here and twinkle against the salt crystals. There is a constant ominous warble from the wind that many find maddening. Visibility is excellent and some researchers utilize these traits for their experiments in geodesy and optics.
