Military: War
The fall of Balios set away any doubts that whatever had come from the jungles deserved proper attention. Unlike had been the case with Atilda or the free cities, the destruction of Balios was a loud and visible affair, the fires of the burned cities could be seen from many miles, and the remaining Kingdoms were unsure if even the Great Capital of Balios still stood. When the hordes of invaders finally began creeping out of the forests towards Tildarra, many of the border lords were already in the process of gathering and readying their troops for battle.
While those lords on the northern borders prepared for war, some of the distant nobility was hesitant to send troops and aid for the war effort. There had been many centuries since the lords of Tildarra had last united under a single banner, and many of them had only known their fellow lords as bitter rivals and conspiring schemers. In the capital city, the King of Tildarra did all he could to encourage unity and support for the war effort, but the long periods of isolation combined with the traditional policy of non-interference had eroded much of the royal court's influence over the Dukes. It also certainly did not help emphasize the severity of the situation when the King attempted to encourage southern lords to donate resources, while keeping his own treasury and luxuries untouched. All was not lost, however, as For the first time since the invasion of Atilda, there would be cooperation between the Kingdoms. The lords of the Western Princes were fearful enough of the incursion that a relief force was sent, containing the elite forces of many of the Kingdom's minor houses, and some of it's proudest claimants. With the enemy's surprised factor destroyed, perhaps there could still be hope for the survival of Tildarra.
