Species Traits

• Creature Type: Humanoid. You are also considered a beast for the purposes of spells and abilities.
• Size: Medium (usually 6-8 feet tall)
• Speed: 35 feet
• Age: Svipdâg's live to be about 80 years old.
• Canid Senses: You have advantage on perception checks that rely on sound, scent, or taste.
• Wisdom of the Dead: By consuming the flesh of the dead, you can relive the cadaver's memories. (please read the history subheading for further explanation)
• Menku's Heritage: As the highest caste in the Maned-Wolf clan of the Steppe, svipdâgs have specific traditions that are passed from generation to generation. You gain proficiency in embalmers tools and long bows.

Civilization and Culture

History

Svipdâgs practice a kind of ritualistic cannibalism in which the dead are mummified so that their flesh can be consumed at a later date. This is so the wisdom of bygone generations isn't lost after death. The mummification is necessary because although they can eat flesh without typical draw backs of cannibalism, a freshly dead body causes only the most recent memories to appear which are often either traumatic or completely useless for their purposes. 
Svipdâgs have dog-like features, especially in their face. They're famously great runners and native to the Steppe where they live in harmony with a great many other species and peoples.
