Civilization and Culture
History
Due to their cloaking abilities, even their fellow Tiersmen regard salimar with some suspicion. This is perhaps the reason that the Bastard culture is so insular but salimar in other regions don't typically have the luxury of being isolationists. Though uncommon, it's not unheard of to find salimar outside of the Tiers most often acting as body guards, advisors, or adventurers.
The legacy of the Vaylian Empire's crime taints these people perhaps most of all. During the invasion of the Tiers, salimar and lizardfolk were the two most common species to be taken as slaves, thus artificially inflating their numbers in other parts of the world. Slavery died with the old empire though and now these people live free but the scars of being torn from their culture run deep.
