Mythyard

"Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you." —inscription on the steps of Mythyard's longhouse.

Demographics

Most of the population are refugees from Ashweald who fled to Tuared in the wake of the moonfall disaster. A smaller, though significant, portion is vaylian (either employees of the Vaylian Trading Company or members of the Evenvalor Society) who immigrated to Mythyard and aid in the trade there. Because of this Vaylian is the most commonly spoken language here, though few of the residents are monolingual.

Government

In large part due to it's relatively young age, Mythyard could perhaps be best described as an adhocracy. The founders were political leaders in Ashweald of some renown and are considered to be pioneers of the Colonial Philosophy of Survival which stands in contrast to the Rebirth Philosophy propagated by the government in Stalwart and the Reforge Philosophy of Elish Norn.
Ultimately, the Mesquida family have the public appearance of final authority. That does, however rely completely on the cooperation of the populace and the organizations that are beginning to become more and more integral to the settlement's maintenance.

Defences

At present Mythyard relies on its trade partners, particularly the Vaylian Trading Company, to protect it from attacks from the sea—most especially pirates. Though the land has been mostly quiet in terms of threats to the settlement itself, the Watchers present have made their new vigil at the edges of Mythyard and keep guard there. Without proper walls, the settlement is still vulnerable to any large force that sets its eyes upon it.

Industry & Trade

Mythyard lives and breaths silver. Tuared is absolutely lousy with the stuff—it can be panned from rivers, mined for, sometimes it can even be found in topsoil. This is of incredible value to outsiders and the settlement alike. Even though Mythyard is young, it's attracted world class smiths who specialize in everything from silvered weapons to fine cutlery. This has also made the ground water undrinkable in most of the settlement but thanks to the aid of the Evenvalor Society and hard work, a distillery was built that is able to pull water from the ocean and transmute it into potable water for the populace and salt for commerce.

Guilds and Factions

The Evenvalor Society for Cartographic Excellence was the first organization to arrive after the settlers from Ashweald and has enjoyed a very cooperative relationship with the locals as they pursue their goals on the continent.
The Vaylian Trading Company initially received an exceptionally chilly greeting when they arrived on the scene, given the reputation of Vaylian governments especially in Ashweald. After they repelled an attack from the Principi sen Patrina they were given proper leave to land on the shores of Mythyard and begin their projects. Overall, their presence is seen as positive for trade and the betterment of life on this strange new land.
In their own right the Principi represent a force for change in the young settlement. Their base of operations is the region is may be located on the northern most Glass Isle but the pirate's presence can still be felt in the form of the slow trickle of hush-sap and other vices.
Finally of course there's the Watchers. Ever since the moonfall disaster destroyed their citadel the organization has been fractured with many different sects forming and deeper radicalization becoming the norm. In Mythyard, unlike in most of Harrow, the Watcher's chief concern is not hunting anything in particular but rather rebuilding. These Watchers are those who lived through, saw, or otherwise took their vows after the destruction of Stalwart and the chief concern is at this point to rebuild and protect their flock in this new land. Some locals call them Roadwardens, noting how different they are from their radical brothers in places like Vaylia or Karstland.
