Seven Gates of the Mind
All intelligent beings in Hárronfall are able to cominicate with and share their thoughts with others to varying degrees. Some races are more skilled at this than others. Most races can only share thoughts and memories through consent on both sides, but some have the ability to forcibly insert themselves into another’s mind. All intelligent species are able to guard against such intrusions and can often sense in another is trying to enter their mind without consent.
The mind itself is described to have seven gates. The first gate is the most commonly assessed. This gate is where thought communication occurs. Only thoughts that one wants another to hear are in this gate, while most other passing conscious thoughts happen in the second gate. More subconscious hidden thoughts occur in the third gate. Most recent memories, unless shared in the first gate, are stored in the fourth gate and most defining and impactful older memories are stored in the fifth. The sixth gate stores information that the mind takes in but doesn’t see as important to remember properly. The seventh gate stores the earliest memories, languages learned early on, and body memory.
The deeper the gate, the harder it is for an intruder to access. Even if an intruder is able to inter the deeper gates, it is very difficult to decipher information, especially without damaging the mind holding the information or in some cases both minds.
