Deities, Kami, and The Divine

The physical beings of Hárronfall all have a close connection with the otherworldly beings because of their abilities with aura. How close those ties are differs for each race or even individual. Every being knows for a fact that the otherworldly exists because of the sacred rituals they perform. They can feel the strength of the otherworldly and their power drawn to them through these rituals. Even simple enchantments call on the powers of the otherworldly. These otherworldly provide those that call upon them with power that an individual would not possess otherwise.

While the beings of Hárronfall are in constant contact with the otherworldly, they know little about these strange creatures. The otherworldly are from different planes of existence that are not governed by the same rules as the physical plane. To fill in the gaps, the different races all create their own stories shaped by their own culture and experiences. Each race believes that their tales of the otherworldly are true regardless of how they might clash with the others. Though if those stories and beliefs are true, no one can prove it. Perhaps they are all true in their own way.

The aes sídhe, fey, jötun, and zmei-kin all believe in a structured chain of power that the other worldly fall under. They believe in four beings at the top that govern power between the otherworldly and different planes of existence. Though the stories of these four beings and how they appear differ, there are similarities.

The aes sídhe and fey believe in the four Divine that are all siblings, sexless, and all equal in power. They believe the otherworldly beings to be Deities that serve one of the four Divine. The jötun believe in four gods, two male and two female. Their god of balance and power controls all of the otherworldly while the other three gods assist the rule of the highest god. The zmei-kin believe the four gods all to be female and equal in power, like the aes sídh.

The dvergar and and dökkálfar believe in the presence of one great and powerful goddess, Moanaekia. She created all the worlds and heavens and resides in the sun. They believe that all the otherworldly beings are extensions of their goddess.

The therianthrope, kataw, and oni believe in the existence of kami which are numerous. Many kami have names and dominion over many small parts of life. There is a kami of the storms, of the harvest, of fire, each heavenly sphere, and kami many other things. Other kami do not have names but that doesn’t mean they are less than the kami that do. These are the kami that flow through the energies of Niflheim and Múspel and give all beings and races the power of aura.
