Itzchâk, Screamers
Itzchâk, (It-z-ch-ah-k) also called Screamers, are a rare type of z’hura (fungi) that grow in the deep forest dark moist environs with lots of decaying organic matter. Screamers have large greyish white stalks with large round, deep almost black purple bulbs on top; the bulbs grow to about the size of a man's head. Itzchâk grow to 1' to 3' tall, clustered in patches of three to twelve stallks. The bulbs are hollow and as the fungi matures they fill with gas and spoors, a by product of the decaying matter.
When in their mature state, if the Itzchâk's bulbs are disturbed they pop releasing spoors and the stored gas. The gas causes those nearby to burst into fits of uncontrollable laghter, hence the moniker, Screamers. While the gas and spoors are harmless to most animal life, they do cause euphoria, an inability to concentrate and puts the victim in a somewhat diminished state for about twenty minutes, making them vulnerable to any predators that may happen by.
