Watanish
Ambarnis Hundred, Meselyneshire, held by Sir Emert Jarquane for Constable Eres Tereneth of Baseta.
The only holding of Baseta in the Ambarnis Hundred, Watanish is held by Sir Emert Jarquane, an uncouth adventurer of dubious origin. Arriving a few years ago in the manor of 1200 acres, he somehow managed to seduce the previous lord’s only daughter, and married her, some say against her father’s will. That worthy knight succumbed not long after to a mysterious ailment, and Sir Emert quickly marshaled his arms of sable, three otters argent with his dead father-in-law’s arms. The Acorn King of Arms in Tashal had no record of Sir Emert’s achievement, but took his word that he had received them abroad. Few see his wife nowadays and many of the young girls of the village do everything they can to avoid Sir Emert’s eye. The Constable does not care for the situation, and has accepted scutage in lieu of service. Even then, it is rarely paid in a timely fashion. Sir Eres is concerned that he may need to take action.
