Baron of Ternua.
The 45 year old baron of Ternua, Tarmas is a heavyset man whose holdings are in the center of Kaldor.
He has a reputation for indolence and crassness, but many believe he is not the fool he pretends to be.
Tarmas is ambitious and hopes to elevate his house back to former glories, which puts a strain on his relationship with his liege, the king.
He has quietly been using his wealth to build a force of mercenaries for the coming conflict.
Tarmas’s eldest daughter Ieara is married to the heir of Curo, a possible alliance.
His second daughter Elana has married the youngest bastard son of the king, Sir Tulath Kaphin, but the baron thinks little of the young man, considering him a wastrel.
The baron’s loyalty is effectively for sale to whomever offers him the most power.
Tarmas holds the strategic bridge over the river Nephen, the main route from south and eastern Kaldor into the heartland.
The Baron's mother, Lady Besnia, is affected by leprosy and two years ago she moved to Erone Abbey.
The baron is devoted to his mother. He generously supports the abbey in thanks for the care and compassion they have shown her when others turned away.
Motives: Increase his family’s power, preferably regaining his family’s Earldom. If it comes to it, support his sister Derwen Verdreth, the Master of Esoterica.
