At 24, Tulath is one of the youngest contenders for the throne, but is very much a dark horse in this race.
The youngest of King Miginath’s bastard sons and the child of king’s mistress Erila Kaphin, he would be the clear heir if his mother had been able to marry the king.
Rumors that Erila and Miginath were half-siblings prevented such a marriage.
Tulath is still convinced he will be king someday, as his father clearly showed him favor by appointing him Sheriff of Vemionshire.
Tulath is too young and naïve to understand exactly how bad his position is.
He has not yet experienced the decades of helpless waiting that his half-brother Sir Maldan Harabor suffered.
Tulath’s only potential ally is Earl Declaen Caldeth of Minarsas, but Tulath mishandled that opportunity by favoring the Earl’s son over the father.
Tulath is living beyond his means and now in debt to a local mercantyler, Danzys of Cuke.
He has made quite a few poor decisions, and is only now realizing exactly how many mistakes he has made.
Not even his mother Erila believes Tulath is ready to be king. Tulath would have to change his ways quickly to have any chance at the throne.
This is exactly why Tulath will be chosen as the heir.
Motives: Expect to coast easily into the throne. Be surprised when that doesn’t happen. Thereafter, either mature in a trial by fire or collapse into uselessness.
