Gloombind Tether

This seemingly mundane length of rope, darkened as if soaked in shadow, feels perpetually tacky to the touch. Created through a blend of shadow magic and alchemical substances, the Gloombind Tether adheres to almost any surface it contacts, establishing a bond as strong as steel.

Properties:

Sticky Grasp: When thrown, the Gloombind Tether can attach itself to any solid surface or object within 30 feet. The tether holds fast until the user commands it to release or until a force greater than 500 pounds is applied.
Shadowmeld: Twice per day, the user can command the tether to blend into shadows, making the tether and anything it is bound to virtually invisible in dim light or darkness.
Ensnaring Strike: Once per long rest, when the tether is thrown at a creature, the user can command it to attempt to bind the target. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be restrained for up to 1 minute. The creature can use its action to attempt the saving throw again, breaking free on a success.
Pulling Power: The user can command the tether to contract, pulling an attached object or creature weighing up to 300 pounds toward the user at a speed of 20 feet per round.

The Gloombind Tether activates its various abilities upon the utterance of the command word "Clingshade". This word is woven into the tether itself with threads of shadow essence, visible only to those who attune to it.

Rumored to have been first crafted by a cabal of rogue arcanists and thieves, the Gloombind Tether was used for silent thefts and quick escapes, easily scaling walls or binding guards without a sound. Its sticky nature is said to be the result of a pact with a minor deity of darkness and adhesion, who was amused by the inventiveness of mortals.
