He has a tattoo over his heart in a simple style. Two Darkspear spearheads fanned out. The spearheads etched in the Darkspear fashion, with troll faces, one face is enamelled purple and the other red. Thick red blood drips from the tip of both spearheads. De Loa protect and mend Shangriloa. Often he will go into battle exposed, tempting his enemies to draw his blood. They have never drawn enough, and Akunda heals the most grievous wounds. His body is marred with the proof of their restoring power. He may be a Darkspear but the Zandalari influence is apparent. Slung across his back in an eggshell papoose is a shy baby Murloc. A painted seashell affixed to the eggshell reads: Mrrglangelo.

Personality Traits:

Shangriloa is haunted by the spirits of his past, foremost among them are Sen'Jin and his son Vol'Jin. He swore an oath to protect both noble leaders yet failed in both duties. This broke him for quite a time until he found new purpose in the teachings of the Zandalari Prelates. His renewed purpose is unwavering, and his devotion to spread the light of de Loa is renown. Vol'Jin ascended, empowered by the essence of Rezan. Shangriloa saw this as not just an opportunity, but his destiny to continue his oath, solidifying in his eyes, the truth of his path. He now works to pave the way for the rebirth of Vol'Jin de Loa of Kings. He seeks repentance for the dark age of his life before the teachings of the Prelates brought him back from the brink. The slaughter he brought to those he blamed for his own failings haunt him as much as the spirits of his broken oaths. In the ruins of one such ill fated peoples he found a hatchling, a Murloc, who turned his rage to dispair. He took this hatchling and swore an oath to protect and raise this youngling, a living representation of the power to forgive.

History: Shangriloa was born during the struggle of the early years of the Darkspears exodus from Stranglethorn Vale to the Darkspear Isles. His formative years were spent hunting with his tribe. He was burlier than most trolls and hit an early growth spurt so he was brought along on hunts with older boys. Even taking up spear to defend and secure the Darkspears hold on the Isles, on occasion. At the age of 15 Shangriloa was on the fast track to being a personal guard of Sen'Jin. Then a new people arrived on the Darkspear Isles, Orcs they were called, and Sen'Jin declared they would lead their people to their true home. Shangriloa held every word Sen'Jin spoke as sacred and knew his vision would come to pass, but he did not dare to imagine the cost. He fought with his tribe and their new allies, being lead by their heroes, the young warrior was in awe. The tactics employed were a sight to behold, and their heroes mighty. In the end the Orcs lead the Darkspear in another exodus, from the Darkspear Isles to Durotar in Kalimdor. Tragically before fleeing, while separated from his Chieftan, Sen'Jin was struck down. While he knew he was fighting for his people and the vision of Sen'Jin, he felt the pain of the failure to uphold his oath. The first crack in his soul.

The Following years were of glory and honor to the Horde, a new family for the Darkspear tribe. Shangriloa felt as Vol'Jin did, a great pride and belonging in the Horde, through all the times of uncertainty and disorder. He fought for years earning his place close to Vol'Jin, a stalwart defender. He watched Vol'Jin ascend to the position of Warchief, he was among his Honor Guard, and he could not be more proud. After all the troubles Vol'Jin saw the Darkspear through he knew his Chieftan was the best choice for the Horde. It was far too shortlived, after only 2 short years in the mantle of Warchief Vol'Jin was slain in the great battle for the broken shore while Shangriloa was embattled in the viscious slaughter. The second crack splintered in his soul. Shangriloa was left broken on the broken shore finding his own way from the failed assault and wandering for a long, long, dark time.

This dark time was full of nightmares, of his own making and of his mind. His wrath turned to those who first made him an oathbreaker, the Murlocs, those that slayed Sen'Jin. He sought them out in every mire and beachhead across Azeroth, the blood he spilled dyed the seas. Relentless, he razed villages and huts for years, in a dark haze. Perhaps the well of his wrath ran dry, perhaps the light shown on this particular hatchling, but one fateful day as Shangriloa stood in the ashes of a Murloc village near Zandalar. He noticed in the debris a spotted eggshell, he noticed because it was wobbling and cracking. As he cleared the debris his mind cleared, and some of the wrath he held onto for so many years. By the time he dug out the egg the hatchling was pushing through the shell, the newborn looked up to see its caretaker and Shangriloa wept. The third crack chipped away at his soul This was the end of his reign of terror to the people of the tides. He took a third oath upon the hatchling, naming him Mrrgltello, and set out to repent his actions and failures.

His travels led to Zandalar, the ancestral home of his people, where he was shown hospitality by a dino farmer. The farmer provided for the broken Troll and his hatchling and shared the lost history of the Zandalari culture in exchange for a hand working his lands. Shangriloa was taken by the stories and culture of the Zandalari Prelates. Fates guiding hand didn't just lead him to the farmer for stories and as luck would have it the farmer was closely related to a Prelate in Dazar'alor and the Prelate was moved by Shangriloa's dark past. After years of studious devotion he was forged into a Prelate. His devotion to his oaths made his a quick study, becoming a vessel for the light of de Loa, allowing the powerful spirits of his people to empower him in their own way. His devotion was rewarded and the lights path revealed to him as Vol'Jin ascended, empowered by the essence of Rezan. For now his oath to the great Vol'Jin could be upheld, Vol'Jin could be reborn as de Loa of Kings. His splintered soul renewed by this revelation.

With his chosen family of Murlocs, the opportunity to serve the greatest hero of his people, and the purpose given to him by the light. He now has a greater purpose than ever before, through the dark age he endured, he has been rewarded with the gift of de Loa.
