Medallion Machines
A series of machines recovered in the vault at Sanctuaris from its original inhabitants, meant to be used in concert with the oath medallions. They present a way for members to opt-in to adding more abilities to their medallions.
The medallion forge: Located in the hall attributed to Death at the time of its discovery, the forge takes the user's medallion, plus heat from the fueled oven below, plus an optional spell at the time of "forging". The end result is the ability for the medallion to turn its linked aura into a familiar (old language referred to it as a miniature golem), which takes the shape of a small creature or living being, and seems to function both as an extension of the medallion's bearer, and also with a mind of its own. It can be used as a messenger, or a second set of eyes and ears, although the connection to the familiar's bearer stretches thin and fades when greater distances span between them. As a being made of pure aura, the medallion familiars cannot starve, drown, suffocate, or age, but they can be damaged to the point where they must be re-forged anew.
The mapping machine: Located in a secret passage hidden beneath the hall of Knowledge, the user simply inserts their medallion into the slot to activate the mapping and tracking ability. It can be deactivated by inserting the medallion again. The mapping ability allows the medallion to be pressed into any flat surface, where it will transform into a limited-range mini-map of the surrounding area. The location of the medallion and any other tracking-enabled medallions are represented on both this mini-map and on the overworld map in the secret passage, displaying as a dot in the same color as the user's aura.
No additional machines have yet been discovered at this time. Abilities may be stacked with each other.
