Musikinsel

The Music Island is one of Hamburg's cultural centers. It is located on the ruins of the old main train station and the surrounding buildings. The island was built in its current form in 2029. Then, as now, it contained elaborately reconstructed replicas of typical Hamburg buildings. But a terrorist attack three years after its opening destroyed everything, as concrete-decomposing bacteria caused part of the island to collapse again.

> It has never been discovered who was behind the 2032 attack. To this day, there are rumors that it was eco terrorists, if not GreenWar.

The Swedish company Isbrytar restored it to its former glory, rebuilding it from 2063 to 2068 and completely redesigning it. There are numerous clubs, bars, restaurants, lounges, theaters, and concert halls here, for example:

  • the huge Cineplex (owned by DeMeKo) Hanse-Dome, where film premieres and film festivals are celebrated,
  • The Orchid Hamburg, the club franchise chain operated by Horizon, Rising Tide, a Weekday Eclipse club owned by the dragon Perianwyr, and Chapeau Claque, the legendary upscale music bar for the upper echelons,
  • one of the ever-popular Taco Temple restaurants,
  • the restored but unrepaired Markthalle (Market Hall), which now serves as a memorial but has also become a popular disco for orcs and trolls,
  • the Ohnsorg Theater, the New State Opera, the Musical Theater Gala, and the Deutsches Theater Schauspielhaus,
  • the restored Museum of Arts and Crafts,
  • the New Deichtorhallen, which is used for art exhibitions and events.

The entire island is a magical attraction for young people and Hamburg's upper class. During the day, businesspeople from the city center meet for business lunches, and tourists flock to the museums and cafés. In the evenings, the party continues until the early hours. Paparazzi are also constantly on the move, chasing stars and starlets.

The Music Island can be reached via pedestrian bridges, the monorail, and a variety of ferry docks, or with the ubiquitous Russian rickshaws.

> In some places, you can access the lower level of the Music Island. At the level of the concrete pillars on which the island stands, there is another concrete surface that forms the foundation. In addition to the ruins of the old buildings, the rubble from the reconstruction work was dumped here. A number of squatters have always lived down there, and there are also some shady bars. The old railway track of the main station has been largely covered and built over. In some places, there are docks for mini-submarines. You can also dive in the former subway shafts. It's pitch black there, all sorts of creatures roam, and you should be damn sure that there's actually an open entrance where you want to resurface.
