Ahrensburg Lake
Two years ago, the small stream north of Ahrensburg Castle was transformed into a large lake at great expense. The planted genetically modified vegetation has now grown, the beach has been filled, all security fences are permanently installed, and both the sailing club and the two lakeside restaurants are open. Without a proper permit, no one can get to the water or even the narrow parking area.
> The financing is very opaque, and rumors are rife. While some joke that local gangsters need the lake to accommodate people with concrete shoes, others believe it's a cover-up for either underwater dumping of garbage, tax evasion, or money laundering. What is certain, at least, is that the building permit was issued much faster than usual.

> There's even a fishing club. The water, like everything else in the area, is cleaned, filtered, and hand-picked – yet there is hardly anything living in it. The fish are released into the lake especially for the members. Some anglers have a few extra catches delivered – animals for which they then have very special bait.
