Thalik delta

The Thalik Delta is in Ojari on Valantaria it is the biggest delta in the whole of Hamanshiron at approximately 1,805,200 km2 (697,000 sq miles), in size that empties out into the Great Arctic sea, and is considered one of the largest and most intact ecosystems in Hamanshiron, especially in a modern society such as the Ojari one.

Geography

Approximately 63 percent of the drainage basin, or 1,137,000 square kilometres (439,000 square miles), is forested (mostly boreal forest). Wetlands comprise about 18 percent, or about 324,900 square kilometeres (125,400 square miles), of the basin. More than 93 percent of forested areas are virgin old-growth forest.   The river discharges more than 400 cubic kilometres or 96 cubic miles of water, which accounts for about 11 percent, the river is frozen for about 3 months a year. The average river flow is at 6,769 m3/s (239,000 cu ft/s)   Within the greater Delta region there are around forty thousand residents, mostly fishermen and their families, a few logging hamlets which cut a set amount of acres each year, and a number of communities who hunt the big game of the region.

Fauna & Flora

Most of the taiga consists of Blue spruce, Grey aspen and poplar forest. In the north, the river's shores are lined with sparse vegetation like Gnome birch and willows, as well as extensive areas of muskeg and peat bogs. South of Great red Lake, there are much larger reaches of temperate and alpine forest, prairie, and fertile floodplain and riparian habitat.   There are over 200 species of water animals in the Delta, including the great black yellowfish, purple finned pike, the sarkin (tastes like tuna and looks like a green one to be fair, the Crodick, a turtle like creature without a shell. The Kilogar is a eight legged creature that is quite similar to a Salamander, which spits acid to defend itself. Water animals in the southern half of the watershed are genetically isolated from those of the northern half due to large rapids on the Red River preventing fish from swimming upstream. In the southern half there are the Jilorf blacktail, the blue finned whitefish, the yellow speckled sturgeon, and the   Over 300 species of birds and air animals use the Delta as a breeding and resting area, it is a convergence of 3 major Northern Migratory routes.   There are many big game species in the delta, including the Saagart (much like an Elk but six legged and green furred) it's cousin the Kobark (six legged dear whose fur blends in and changes with the environment) and couple of big felines like the Ygeeri and the Evarkil.

Natural Resources

The Delta has a massive abundance of a variety of natural resources, which have been virtually untouched, which is unusual for the nation of Ojari who normally strip everything they can get hold of.   But in 1238 6A one of the Kings of Ojari, Sabrika Omarkio, wrote into law that the delta had to be protected from deforestation, over fishing and over hunting, and that any resources had to be harvested by the local population, there is a strict quota of fish, trees, medicinal plants, game etc that can be obtained by any one person, by a combined settlement and the delta together.   The Thalik Delta Preservation Rangers were set up to ensure that the quotas are enforced.   The locals don't tend to have an issue with this however because relatively speaking for Ojari commonere they are fairly well off. It's the nobility of Ojari that covet the land and the untold wealth it could bring them but every monarch has kept the Delta Law in place and untouched because it is Ojari's future prosperity in nature.
