The Old Gods of Halladell

Halladell was once a kingdom of nine fiefs, adhering to the laws and will of nine great beings known as the Archons. These beings were gods, each of them ruling over a different fief within Halladell. A thousand years ago the people of Halladell rose up in rebellion against the Archons and cast them down, freeing themselves of the greater beings' overwhelming will and control. Nowadays, almost nothing remains of the once all-powerful Archons, save a precious view who still devote their life to the Old Gods in exchange for great power.
