Hefton trench

Geography

As the population was hit with the Gold Rush, hundreds of thousands sold what they couldn't carry and headed out to strike it rich. However one of the locations the miners settled was Southern Hefton, 36 Miles East of the modern-day town of Well-lucky, they got a bit more than they bargained for. After about three months of excavation, the miners stumbled upon a huge deposit of hydrogen. Not knowing quite what to do with it and as it hamper their progress. They lite it on fire hoping it would burn out in a few days. The spark caused an explosion that ran along a splintered line of about 4 miles, blowing the earth sky high, leaving behind a trench the white of 8 yards at its widest and 6 feet at its smallest. The fire is still burning today, the incident was named “The Hefton Gold boom disaster”. Bugs and insects of different varieties are attracted to the light, you can often see them jumping into the pit.
