Runevan language

The Runevan language group is one of great historical influence. For millennia, it has served as the language of religious power, trade, and royal legitimacy; the true language of scholarship and divine power across Sonev. Runevan grammar and vocabular has seeped into every language in Sonev, as have their naming conventions. While these splinter dialects have evolved well out of the realm of mutual understanding, ancient Runevan still provides a very visible shared heritage for the languages of Sonev.   Modern Runevan is still a powerful linguistic influence, with tendrils ranging from North Sonev all to way to West Ibith. Sonevan merchants still often learn Runevan and Sonevan mercenaries most certainly do. And the Lianas, Runevan spies that operate around the world for the glory of the Empire, bring seeds of Runevan wherever they go.
