Wood-dwelling cultures

Those people that are descendants of indigenous peoples are most often found in forests and woods, with fewer on the plains or in the mountains.

During the incursion, most animals achieved some form of sentience, as did large forests. People commonly assume this is due to the fact that forests are akin to superorganisms, and as such, were exposed to enough magic to "awaken".

The woods rarely tolerate other humans than indigenous descendants in their realm for long, and most other cultures find it petrifying to have to spend any length of time in large forests. Being stuck in such a forest during the dark is truly the stuff of nightmares.
