Session 8
Our heroes rested on the now quiet beach while Imiq dove into the predator-free cave waters. There amongst the bones and broken rubble he uncovered several treasures that he carried back to shore. Lans and Arturo busied themselves with removing the head of the River Drake to keep a trophy of their conquest. At this Zips had an idea, and after a conspiratory huddle with Kozmo began to cut through the neck to analyze the beasts acid glands. Waving the others on as he and Kozmo dove fully into their grisly science, the rest of the Bravest Braves decided to proceed further before learning the secrets of the treasures that they had uncovered.
Our heroes decided to swim out towards a ruined boatlanding, once there they opted not to go up the stairs into the familiar paved stone of the Gauntlight that they recognized and instead decided to painstakingly squeeze through a narrow set of tunnels to the south. The narrow tunnels opened to a room occupied by an emaciated person with pale greyish-green skin, wide protruding eyes , and old moldy robes barely held together by mildewed threads. He was being attended by similar wretched humanoid creatures obediently feeding him worms from an old cracked bowl. He spoke out in Undercommon as the Bravest Braves approached.
"Who enters the Kingdom of Graulgust, Lord and Ruler of the Ghost Queen Morlocks!?!?!"
Garland stepped forward, cleared his voice and responded back in the same tongue
"The Bravest Braves will fuck you up!"
pausing a moment before adding
"Get wrecked!"
The rage from the King was immediate "Guards! Seize these heathens!" and a fierce battle began. Their strange skittering movements served them well to nimbly dodge out of the way of many of the Bravest Braves blows, coupled by the spells of the King prolonging his life and debuffing our heroes. Eventually though the King's minions were whittled down by the flames, bolts, steel, and claws of the Bravest Braves and Graulgust called for the Royal Guardian's to aid him.
Lumbering from an adjacent room a massive Grothlut appeared accompanied by a Zombie. Imiq was the first thing the massive aberration reached and the things ungainly form was able to lay down some massive blows dropping the monk. Mrk went to a high alert mode as soon as the thing came into sight and was able to thoroughly analyze it. The bizarre creature let out a piteous moan that sickened our heroes even as they fought it off. Arturo's healing was able to revitalize Imiq who tripped the great beast. It was not long before the King fell to Garland's thunder. Before too long the Guardians would fall as well to Lans electric slashes. As the Grothlut fell it exploded showering all (except for swift Imiq) in an deluge of sickening sludge.
It was a hard fought battle but the Bravest Braves had emerged victorious. Pausing briefly they decided to take a moment to heal and perhaps learn more about the treasure they had claimed earlier. Garland, Arturo, Lans, and Mrk pooled their knowledge and were able to discover the haul contained 36 Gold, a Wand of Magic Missile, an Axe of Retribution, and an Imperial Metanome. With Mrk's assistance Imiq was able to discover a series of four traps that were impeding the heroes journey further in. One by one Garland disarmed them only triggering 2 and getting hurt once. At the end of the hallway the group opened yet another door only to discover two more Morlocks and a Homonculus that they were tinkering with. The weapons at their sides indicate that they were supposed to be warriors or guards of some sort. It seemed that another battle was on the Bravest Braves' horizon.
