Session 6 in Gyea | World Anvil

Session 6

Our heroes had just barely managed to stabilize Garrick before a surge of power pulsed through Gauntlight, lifting Garrick's spirit out of his body and then drawing it screaming through the floor of the tower. Stunned the heroes sat in a brief silence (except for Lans who had taken a small break to go night fishing and witnessed a lone Mitflit out by the docks staring in a daze at a dancing light). Once the party had regrouped they had no time to mourn their loss as the power being drawn into the Gauntlight's top floor had only increased in intensity. Mustering their resolve our heroes ascended once more.
Greeting them at the top floor was a Vampiric Mist aided by a Homonculus. The duo would harry our heroes defenses but the expert sword play and potent magics downed both foes once and for all. As the opponents were slain Gauntlight surged with power once more, the blue glow further increasing in intensity, before a beam shot out from Gauntlight stretching gods know how far across the waters of Limberry. Where the light touched the water it brought death with it, but for the heroes themselves they felt rejuvenated and restored despite being bathed in its luminescence. As the shine from Gauntlight completed its counter clockwise circuit one could only wonder just how far the dire light had reached...idle wonderings gave way to concern as they realized that the light had finally come to a rest at a very close location....the Odaro Graveyard. Hustling (pausing only to lay Garrick's body at the Stone Circle) they made their way to the Graveyard as soon as they could.
When they arrived they witnessed the dead struggling free from their Graves and roaming the Graveyard aimlessly searching for living flesh. Knowing it to be only a matter of time before they shambled their way past the graveyard gates, the heroes resolved to contain the situation and Dr. Zips sent Kozmo back to town to put out a warning while the heroes prepared to cut down the walking dead. Approaching from two entrances they defeated the undead one after another, Lans blade (empowered by Garland's magic) and Mrk's enhanced morningstar laying low zombies and skeletons alike with ease. It seemed that the crisis had been averted until the light of Gauntlight shone once more, charged with occult magical energies focused on delivering a new threat into their midst. A Scalathrax with an aberrant rider manifested in the center of the Graveyard to threaten our heroes anew.
The creature spewed deadly poison with abandon direly wounding Lans even as the Magus slew the rider with a thunderous magical strike. The Doctor's elixirs helped bring the allies back from the brink as they fought through the searing poison of it's fel secretions. Mrk's overclocked movements and Garland's crackling lighting wounding the beast before Imiq darted between it's chitinous legs using his flowing martial arts to bring the beast to the ground. It attempted to rise and escape, chittering and clacking with alien fury, in the end it was an Alchemist Fire lobbed by brave Dr. Zips into the creatures toothy maw that slew the Scalathrax once and for all.
As our adventurers stood victorious they heard a cheer behind them. The townsfolk (and Kozmo) rushed them in a flood of jubilant celebration, overjoyed that a group of unlikely heroes had banded together to save the town.
