Session 5
Our heroes healed up as the finished their exploration of the creepy chapel. Discovering some treasures hidden in the altar and on the bodies of the defeated opponents. Retracing their steps they elected not to take the secret stairwell down and instead returned to the central lighthouse tower and used the lighthouse key on the locked trap door. They uncovered a strange room with a glass case or perhaps a cage containing whirling soul energy. There was Shori script permanently disfigured and scrawled over with rantings and ravings in Aklo (Deepspeech). Seemingly unable to damage anything in the room they elected to return to Odaro and do some research.
Garland and Mrk were unable to discover some information about Belcorra and Gauntlight. Lans was able to discover some tips on fighting undead. Dr. Zips was able to find no mention of Gauntlight being referred to as a device or work of artifice. Nor was he able to find any connection to Chimera, the Shori, or aberrations despite the ominous words they discovered. Garrick chased down more information on the Werewolf. Imiq was able to catch a delicious and hardy lunch to insure all were well fed.
Returning to Gauntlight that afternoon right before nightfall our dauntless heroes waited in Gauntlight's top floor (Coppola). Soon they felt a powerful energetic thrumming beneath their feat and the glow of Gauntlight became brighter. Cautiously they creeped down below, only to see a bloody apparition manifesting from the massive bloodstain down below. Garrick's sharp senses became aware of the haunt before it was aware of him and his rogue training allowed him to notice that the blood stain it was springing from now seemed more animate and malleable. He dove at the Ghosts feat attempting to disrupt the tether it had to this world , but was halted as the apparition pulsed with an evil pale blue glow. Bleeding wounds opened across unslashed skin as the fell light shone across the party.
Our heroes surrounded this specter laying into it while desperately using their alchemical and medical prowess to stop the party from dying to this manifestation. His teammates was able to give Garrick the cover he needed to finally disrupt the stain. The apparition screamed turning into a spiraling funnel of blood that slammed up into the ceiling and through the trap door to Gauntlight's Coppola. Although the foe had passed the bloody wounds still remained and our heroes fought desperately to stem the bleeding of that foul light. Eventually they were successful despite Kozmo getting underfoot and causing Dr. Zips to spill some precious coagulant. Still despite some serious blood-loss everyone survived and is stable.....and the goresplattered mystery of Gauntlight lurks above awaiting adventurers brave enough to tempt fate and come face to face with what very well could be their doom.
