Session 49-52

The daemons proved to pose little challenge to the Bravest Braves despite their ambush tactics. The now seasoned adventuring party utilized both their spellcraft and combat tactics neutralize the threat and immediately beelined directly towards where they believed to be the lair of the Black Dragon. The heroes felt the ground beneath their feet start to transform into muddy sludge and knew they had found the correct the place, it wasn't long before their way forward was obstructed by a patch of magical darkness. Soon a draconic voice belonging to Ravirex, Heir of Acidmaw, Melter of Stone, demanded to know their purpose of intruding. Wasting no time our heroes immediately began their assault,   Ravirex's corrosive breath cut across the team its damage thankfully reduced by protective spells. Mrk plunged into the darkness relying on his augmented defenses to help him whether the draconic onslaught, However the swiftness and power of Ravirex's fangs had been underestimated, with backup still just outside the dragons reach Mrk became the sole focus of his wrath. As Mrk crumpled the potency of the dragon's magic became apparent as the seemingly malevolent darkness foiled spell after spell until finally Mrk was brought back to consciousness. Garland and Lans signalled for the retreat, using their remaining resources to escape back to their refuge among the Calignis. Tactfully regrouping they decided that while their was allure in a dragon's hoard locating Yldaris should be the first priority. After much exploration which included the slaying of a giant spider, several nefarious fungi, and a mutated troglodyte they finally stumbled upon both a teleportation chamber and a corpse that provided their first tangible clue as to the location of Yldaris. Taking note of a strange eye stalk watching them from the lake they followed the map towards a boulder with inscriptions on it in flowing script. After the spell-caster's successfully determined the boulder was trapped they intentionally triggered it in order to proceed. The Bravest Braves were immediately swarmed by Dark Elf defenders. however the Bravest Braves elected to take the diplomatic approach temporarily surrendering their weapons in exchange for passage to Yldaris.   Once inside Yldaris they awaited an audience with their leader Quara. When they were granted an audience with her they had learned that she was cousins with Falxni and Dark Elf they had rescued from becoming part of the menu at the Warped Brew tavern. She approached the heroes graciously and soon an atmosphere of mutual respect began to take shape as information was exchanged. They learned that Quara and the Dark Elves of Yldaris are at Belcorra's mercy and that she had entrusted one of the Fulcrum lenses with her father for safekeeping but that ultimately he and Quara's older sister had been hunted down and murdered by an abomination warlord named Khurfel. Twin seers who seemed to be counselors of Quarra spoke in unison with a voice that carried the timber of arachnid legs dancing across silk, telling all that the lens once held by Quara's father did not fall into Khurfel's hand but fell somewhere dark and wet and landed somewhere with green light. Quara implored the Bravest braves to use their skills to reclaim the lost lens and our heroes graciously accepted her quest.   With information shared (and the Bravest Braves showing the Dark Elves the wonder of bacon) our heroes decided to take a few hours to rest and prepare for the next leg of their adventure.
