Session 44 in Gyea | World Anvil

Session 44

Our brave heroes handle unfinished business in town. Mrk built a small chassis for Ralph but abandoned the idea upon coming to the realization that in order to allow him to speak through another vessel they would need to use Necromancy to transfer the consciousness. Instead he busied himself with Blacksmith work as well as spending much of his remaining time researching about those who stand against Aberrations and looking out for any other reports of being like him. Ultimately Mrk discovered a flyer from the Watchers of the Void that caught his interest.
Garland did some additional digging into Mrk's legal status and assisted Mrk in getting registered as a sentient citizen of Odaro. Dr. Zips did some soul searching about what he had done to deserve Hugh Mann's attention and realized the influence these deities of celebration and tragedy have had throughout this life and how these Gods must be in constant struggle. This realization of these strands of fate woven into his journey given him much to think about as he treated Odaro's populace for any sort of minor aches and pains.
Koko spent his time meditating and exploring the inner workings of his own psychic powers as well as penning a letter to his family back home while Lans occupied himself with fishing. With nothing but the deepest reaches of Gauntlight lying ahead the Bravest Braves have a celebratory hurrah at their tavern that actually manages to attract a medium crowd despite recent adjacent tragedies.
Once down in the lower reaches our heroes encountered hallways that seemed to be long overgrown with a variety of fungus. Garland carefully burned it away clearing a path for the Braves towards a surprisingly well lit room with a sword at one end covered by dark rags. Carefully retrieving it with a Mage Hand, Garland identified a Gloom Blade, a sword that drew it's power from darkness. As they marveled at Garland's new weapon and attempted to move across the room Mrk decided to run an impromptu experiment and see what happens when you throw a ball into a glowing pool of water...the answer was Wisp attack.
Our heroes fought Bravely as ever Garland deactivating their spell immunity with his own arsenal before showing his martial prowess and exhibiting a hidden potential for melee combat no one could have foreseen. Koko used psychic trickery to divert devastating attacks. Mrk and Lans bravely weathered several severe hits before returning the punishment and the group's teamwork were able to prevail. Our crew scarcely had time to savor the sweet taste of victory before they encountered Belcorra in all her phantasmal glory. The Phantom Sorceress appearing from the far end of the hallway and delivering a Phantasmal Calamity upon the heads of our already injured Bravest Braves with a ghastly screech, before mysteriously vanishing just as swiftly as she arrived, vanishing into the very stones of Gauntlight's central tower. Our heroes torn between going back to where they saw Belcorra vanish in the hopes of making it back to the surface to rest or venturing forward into the unknown but definitely away from the Sorceress our heroes decided to heal as quickly as they possibly could and forge ahead. Opening a door they came upon a foul looking subterranean lake sporting several animals locked in cages. They examined all they could before some territorial Chuuls forced them to back off and re-evaluate exactly where they would journey to next.
