Ending the pseudo-life of the orc head attached to the mysterious machine was the first order of business shortly before combing the lab for all the notes and treasure the Bravest Braves could gather. Returning to the surface to regroup. At last allowing themselves to rest, recuperate, take stock of their hard fought experiences, and spend a little gold.

Through communing with his animal companions both Baloo and Sher Khan began to embody more of the magic inherent in nature becoming more akin to embodiments of nature than mere beasts. Lans fished and carefully evaluated the weapons available to find the perfect arsenal to bring to bear. Koko too honed his powers perfecting new ways to twist his spells and leverage his abilities.
When they returned to Gauntlight they found the level they were on largely abandoned. Sweeping through the labs they found a devil conversing with a number of infernal minions. The heroes approached him to talk the devil looking to immediately attack halted itself at the sight of the Iron Spike, a marker of Urevian's favor. He revealed himself to know very little and told the heroes to speak to Urevian to know more. The heroes resolved to do so noticing how the Iron Spike had begun to melt and deform into a misshapen lump scrawled with infernal runes. Moving on to their last sweep of the interior of this level they encountered a room filled with Ochre Jellies, while annoying the heroes were able to triumph and plot their next move.
