Session 2 in Gyea | World Anvil

Session 2

Mrk, utilizing some surprising capabilities, propels himself over the bridge before informing his allies that it is safe to cross as long as they do so one at a time. He and Lans are the first ones to venture into the next room and encounter a larger gang of Mitflits who viciously attack the heroes with the aid of a trained gigantic maggot. The ensuing battle is vicious with several Mitflits nearly bringing down Imiq with a storm of tiny cuts and stabs but thanks to the potions and care of Dr. Zips the Pengu Monk remained standing. Garland's spells battered and seared Mitflit and Maggot alike before they were dispatched by the merciless blades of Lans, Mrk, and Garrick.
Mrk reacting to some sort of ambient energy or memory in the air began to project an image from his central eye. The hazy indistinct figures of several adventurers facing off against a lone powerful spellcaster, In this projection, our heroes watch as one of these adventurers from the past is singled out by their mage opponent and blasted into the room to the east by a powerful spell. The projection ends as mysteriously and abruptly as it began. Our heroes curious about the room peek in to witness a large pack of Mitflits distractedly picking through the large pile of rubble that fills a sinkhole in the center of the room, and decide to promptly close that door before they were noticed. They continued their exploration to the west.
Dr. Zips inspecting a kill that he deduced must be the work of a local River Drake was nearly gnawed by mandibles as more maggots burst forth from the carcass of a giant frog; getting saved at the last moment by Imiq's cautious instincts. Our heroes manage to dispatch them swiftly (despite a few getting coated with disgusting fluids) thanks to some deadly sneak attacks from Garick, arcing lightning from Garland, and the burning spellfury of Lans. Pausing briefly to treat wounds and to slam the door on a room containing a giant fly our heroes ventured further north.
In the next room rising from what seemed to be just another pile of rubble, a swirling storm of tribal Kobold Spirits assailed the party. Their negative spirit warping energies confusing and befuddling the senses of the heroes, except for Garland surging with the heroic energy surging through his bloodline. Mrk dodged the attacks of his allies as he fled from Garrick, who in an incredible display of will averts a possibly lethal strike by his own blade from landing on one of his allies. Dr. Zipps falls to the negative energy of the haunt but is revived by a potion he had brewed earlier and gave to Garland (who administered it to the unconscious Doctor amidst the spectral chaos). In the end it was Imiq shining with golden light who managed to pacify the spirits long enough for them to gather and remove the bones from the rubble. Although this haunt may be more perilous than expected our heroes managed to unearth some coins and a few valuable baubles to help make things worth their while.
