Session 18 in Gyea | World Anvil

Session 18

Imiq's knowledge of lost and languishing spirits paid off as the monk calmed the mind of the spectral force behind the malevolent gaze...the threat vanishing almost as quickly as it emerged. With no threats still in the area the Bravest Braves took an opportunity to explore some more, uncovering additional teleportation circles and a hidden cache of potions. They also encountered a devil who seemed to be suffering from extreme boredom. After showing no overt hostility the heroes spoke with them and uncovered the possibility of a mutual beneficial arrangement if they would be able to recover his contract so he could review the exact terms and look for loopholes.
With no immediate conflict or threats present, all seemed well, until they discovered a room with a surprisingly detailed recreation of Norleigh. Our heroes were hesitant to approach wary of traps hidden within the model. They did not expect however the Wooden Golem and Skeletons that pulled themselves free of the ruins masonry and attacked.
The foes were powerful, their forms enhanced by necromantic magic were impervious to all but the most devastating of blows. Their strikes fortified by unholy power crushed metal and pulverized flesh. Lans and Arturo's companion Baloo took the worst of it, both approaching the threshold of death....but in the end the Bravest Braves pulled through, utilizing magical fire to capitalize on the weakness inherent to the golems magical nexus and relying on the healing provided by Arturo and Zips. When the dust had settled and our heroes were ready to continue they decided to double back and face the fey foe who had claimed Belcorra's office as his own domain. The Lurker in Light was unprepared for the fury the bravest Braves unleashed, suffering grave wounds in mere seconds of engaging with the heroes, facing down an infuriated Magus aglow with defensive and offensive magical energy. The fey was forced to teleport away calling on a strange token to enhance his already potent magic. The last thing the Lurker left them with was a spiteful curse and the words "Byx was right about you!" with seething hatred. Our heroes were left alone in the empty office.
Of the scraps that remained were more rare bucks including one that would allow one to add the Ghostly Weapon spell to a spellbook, some more rare books that they believed they could get gold for, and an extremely rare ritualistic tome for creating spectral undead (specifically poltergeists). With a large portion of this floor explored the Bravest Braves stopped to regroup and decide how they would continue their exploration.
