Session 17 in Gyea | World Anvil

Session 17

After studying what they could and digesting the information they had found our heroes, the Bravest Braves returned to Odaro to rest. Reconvening at the castle they decided to continue their exploration deciding to hasten their progress by dividing and conquering. Imiq and Arturo encountered a trio of cultist conversing on the finer points of cannabilism and soon found themselves the target of a barrage of spells. Garland and Lans encountered a ghostly Scribemaster named Chandiru with ghouls under her thrall writing about their love for Belcorra and someone named Volluk Ariznae, they followed the Scribemaster's commands until she floated through a hole in the wall and promptly exited the room. Lastly Zips and Mrk decided not to tempt fate by proceeding alone and doubled back to help their friends in need. After a brief yet bloody combat the ghouls were slain and thanks to the potent tonics of Dr. Zips their progress continued, this time past a secret door. There they encountered a Grothlut accompanied by a Gibbering Mouther whose incoherent babblings caused temporary insanity to erupt among the party. Arturo was engulfed but the magic infused steel of Lans cut him free. The newly liberated Arturo was able to restore Lans as he nearly died due to the vicious retaliatory gnashing of the mouther. Once the battle had ended Arturo faintly detected the scent of a shifter lingering in the air deeper down into the cavern.
Before the Bravest Braves continued their hunt for the infamous lycan they decided to explore further. Finding a familiar spectral glow that wrote the group a message
“Belcorra fell to the Roseguard, but we never knew of these vaults below...”
it arced back to the east but following along its path they encountered a room shrouded in fog. Their attempt to follow the glow was halted by the onslaught of a Mist Stalker which the group was able to take down despite the concealing vapor.
Having lost the trail they decided to double back and check a room they had moved past. Arturo sensing something was off about the room, his senses picking up an aura of malevolence emanating from the painting on the far wall. Lans tried to rip it off the wall with a fishing line but the haunt was too fast employing its occult magic to severe the line an unleash its malevolent gaze on the party. Fear welled up in their hearts as the gaze painfully pierced into their minds....
