Session 12 in Gyea | World Anvil

Session 12

Our heroes, the Bravest Braves, reconvened and Imiq filled them in with new information he had gleaned from the prisoners about Yenyasmara (their boss and the propreitor of one of the local taverns named "Crook's Nook"). The prisoners also shared with Imiq that if they turned them in Yenyasmara would payoff their bounties anyways so they could always go directly to her if they wanted to make some coin. A vote was held and the Bravest Braves elected to take the prisoners to Crook's Nook.
On the way back to the surface the small fiend was spotted by Lans and pursued through a portion of Gauntlight but managed to hide in the elevator for a time before darting to another hiding spot. Finally though the Bravest Braves returned to the surface. Lans and Garland hesitant about indirectly working with a criminal enterprise elected to stay behind. Mrk led the way walking in with the prisoners and the covered body of their deceased comrade in tow. Quickly being ushered to a backroom Yenyasmara poured all in attendance a strong drink as they shared their story. At the end she directed Mrk to leave the body here, provided the rescued men with some warm food, and had delivered a payment of 12 platinum pieces. On the way out Imiq noticed his brother Aklaq who seemed to be very inebriated and losing an axe throwing competition with Caymen the owner of the Smithy that Mrk worked at. With Imiq's intervention (and Guidance) and a little luck Aklak was able to land a lucky throw when he took the double for nothing wager before slumping and passing out. Mrk evenly distributed the money amongst the party except for Garland who refused to take the questionable income (Lans volunteered to take his share). Imiq upon delivering his brother back to the rooms his family had procured at the Crow's Cask had a small heart to heart with his other elder brother Siku.

Garland and Lans instead went to visit the Rowdy Rockfish, a much more refined tavern with a reputation for having the finest lodgings Odaro had to offer. Their a local noble and Gameball celebrity Roland Hyral. Upon catching his attention he convertly set next to the pair at the bar before giving Lans a letter from his father and having a bit of a heated conversation with Garland urging him to come home and serve a small stint doing menial task for the Empire's Military Supply and Administration division. Garland outright refused with Lans boldly and firmly backing him up. It looked like violence may errupt before the proprietor Brelda Venkervale interceded preempting any violent altercation with a stern warning and a dangerous looking rolling pin. The heroes quickly parted ways thinking better of continuing this interaction.
That night the heroes commemorated Arturo joining them with a bottle of fine liquor and in the morning they met up once more to head out to Gauntlight. Lans awoke with a strange yet useful magical talisman that had been slipped into his pack however there was no clue on when it happened....other than it could not have happened during the night. Once they got to Gauntlight, on their way to the separate island Garland decided to check in with the Mitflit Steve who was in the process of reconstructing the model of Odaro made from sand and flotsam. Lans and Mrk fearing that the Mitflit was planning to attack the town once more waited until Garland had left and then slew the gremlin in a sudden flash of blades. Garland heard this despite their attempts to be quiet and their explanations did little to calm his anger. Pushing the fury down while surrounded by the haunted lighthouses danger Garland and the rest of the Bravest Braves ventured out to the unexplored island. There they found a shelf with lots of moldy ruined books where they were addressed by an unidentified voice claiming it's name was Spookywisp. Refusing to believe the voice The Bravest Braves eventually discovered a Fey known as a brownie who was attempting to convince the adventurers to recover a "shiny" from the room at the other end of the building. Garland immediately attacked his anger at the death of Steve spilling forth as arcane wrath. The other party members were able to non-lethally subdue and then question the brownie however. He claimed to have secret info he would part with in exchange for the "Shiny". The group proceeded once more seeing some strange art regarding presumably Gauntlight and Belcorra. Finally they entered a room where a small doll asks the Bravest Braves, "Is Master Ariznae coming back?" Dr. Zips thinking quickly attempted a ruse in order to console it "Yes we're working on a way to bring him back soon" His words seemed to strike a stange cord in the doll, planting a seed of confusion or doubt....but that doubt was soon overcome by rage as it rose menacingly and a nearby corpse sprang to attention and they both began to threaten our heroes as combat loomed once more.
