Once attuned it takes a year of separation from its owner to unattune. This process occurs instantly if the previous owner dies.       Lore: This compact timepiece at first glance appears to be a type of pocketwatch or compass. The ticking hands inside however do not tell time but rather help the user attune to and amplify their body's natural metamagic fields. Even those without formal magic training or natural magic talent can increase their abilities of cognition, intuition, observation, and teamwork by syncing their metamagic rhythms with the Metanome. Every user produces their own unique Metamagic rhythm.   Metanomes were first forged during the Reclamation and bestowed only to Imperial Heroes and Adventurers who have performed a great service to the Empire. While the chassis is easy to modify, the Metanome's core is fiendishly difficult to disassemble without becoming irreparably damaged. The construction of these items are an imperial secret and many attempts to reverse engineer the devices have resulted in a Metanome's permanent destruction. Unsubstantiated rumors claim their design is based on a rudimentary version of the technology used in the Crown of Ruin.   Those with the right aptitude and those who spend a significant amount of time training with a Metanome can bring their abilities to the next level. These "Tempo Knights" are most common among Imperial Officers or Adventurers who have inherited a Metanome and received specialized instruction.
